Maldives opens 1st virtual embassay in Second Life

The Maldives opened the world’s first virtual embassy in Second Life May 22. DiploFoundation conceived the project as a way for developing countries to improve diplomatic outreach. The virtual embassy is an example of the role ICT can play in achieving the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva. Macedonia, the Philippines and Sweden are expected to follow with their own virtual embassies.
